Allow me the opportunity to take you on a journey – a biography of a so-called colored seed growing up on the Cape Flats. My story is about the struggles and successes of my people living in the high-risk communities in Cape Town, South Africa. Our expectations to overcome our circumstances are directly influenced by negative paradigms resulting from our past conditioning.
The system is designed to keep people in high-risk communities in conflict with each other. For a long time, people from marginalized communities have been denied involvement in mainstream economic, political, cultural, and social activities. This has led to the formation of negative paradigms – negative thoughts, emotions, and actions to advance in life.
The structures known as the Council Flats were historically established as dormitories to provide labor for white Cape Town, not as places to build a life. These hostels, a relic of apartheid, are at the root of many social problems in our area, nurturing conditions for street gangs to thrive and keeping people emotionally, physically, and mentally imprisoned in suffering.
But enough of the negativity. We have a plan! A methodology designed under the auspices of CAPE FLATS KARMA aims to combat our negative paradigms by finding sensible ways to bring about positive change in our much-needed communities on the Cape Flats.
CAPE FLATS KARMA uses insightful life coaching questions to help people in marginalized communities, especially on the Cape Flats and township areas, identify their own insights, solutions, and action plans on their journey to self-discovery. Additionally, CAPE FLATS specializes in life motivational coaching to help people gain insight into their lives and implement achievable action plans.
