South Africa is currently grappling with the urgent challenge of limited and poor participation of young people in the positive upliftment of their respective communities, particularly the marginalized communities. The high persistent youth unemployment is a pressing issue, indicating that young people are not acquiring the leadership skills and experience they need to assist in driving their communities forward. It is crucial to provide opportunities for young South Africans in marginalized communities to develop their own sustainable service projects in order to bring about positive change.
CAPE FLATS KARMA™ offers this principle of action in response to the call made by local Government and councilors appointed to coordinate youth projects in communities. We aim to provide bold, imaginative and effective strategies that create an opportunity for youth to roll out effective and sustainable service projects. These projects will directly address the social issues such as youth unemployment, gangsterism, crime, drugs, teenage pregnancy and limited participation of young people in the economy, offering a potential for significant positive change.
Through this strategy instrument, we urge the Government’s intention to foster youth empowerment and economic participation by deliberately enhancing youth entrepreneurship (sustainable community service projects), accelerating the growth of youth-owned and managed enterprises capable of contributing to the positive upliftment of marginalized communities and increasing youth self-employment and innovation.

Marginalization is one of the major causes of conflicts in Africa, if we look at Rwandan Genocide it was the issue of Hutus were being marginalized by the Tutsis which led to the Genocide, As opposed to here in Zimbabwe I’m a Zimbabwean, the Second chimurenga between the whites and blacks it was the issue of Land, Black Zimbabweans were being marginalized by the whites over the fertile land, so my point of view is that MARGINALIZATION is the root causes of conflict, so it’s better as Peace builders to address it before it escalates!
